These insecurities soon grow to consume Bastion, eventually prompting him to join the Society of Light, though ironically, he showcases none of the arrogance and devotion the Society's followers have towards Sartorius despite his claims to the contrary. For example, at the beginning of the Genex Tournament, he couldn't attack " Familiar-Possessed - Hiita" because he liked her similarly, when a doll named Alice showed up, he wished her to be with him instead of Tyranno Hassleberry.īastion soon finds himself at the butt of many jokes and puns, with his companions failing to notice him, and he himself to start fading into the background. It is worth noting that prior to this, despite his protests that such feelings are illogical and irrational, it is implied that Bastion has feelings for several female monster cards seen throughout the series, his primary crush being " White Magician Pikeru", but it is implied that he is also crushing on other cards and other girls. Upon Tania's introduction, Bastion's logical thinking is thrown on its head, with him becoming flustered around her and making numerous mistakes that result in his loss and becoming totally infatuated with her.

In his introduction, despite his intellect, Bastion shows great interest in Jaden Yuki, and makes it clear that he views him as a worthy opponent and rival to defeat, studying Jaden's strategies to create a counter to them, only failing due to Jaden's unpredictability. Consequently, Bastion's Decks are each built with a formula that he made, with him experimenting with test Decks and even creating six for each Attribute to serve as a basis to prepare for any kind of situation. Prior to enrolling at Duel Academy, Bastion wore a closed white coat with a grey lining, white pants, and black shoes, and he used a KaibaCorp Duel Disk.īastion is an intelligent, precise, stern Duelist with a genius-level intellect, and that intelligence is utilized and exulted by him concerning his strategies. During the Society of Light arc, Bastion wears the white uniform of the Society's Duel Academy members, and even bleaches his hair white in a display of loyalty to the Society. He carries an Academy-issued Duel Disk on his left hand.
His black hair is neatly arranged, with a large portion flushed back and slightly to his left, featuring different layers where the sloping changes direction.
